Halloween Part II

Rest easy world....this Dr. Conrad will not be killing any Kings of Pop. I hear this Dr. Conrad is very reputable.

Halloween

I am so excited to dress up for my second Halloween. I wish I had planned ahead a little and did a little more work for my costume, but hey.....I'm a rookie Halloween Costume wearer. I am going to be the Morton Salt girl. I was looking at all the different girls that have been the logo for Morton's and I have decided to call them and let them know they are slacking. They change the girl every decade for six decades and then just decide to take four decades off? Unacceptable!

The Burglar

Have you ever heard a story and had an immediate strong emotion, only to think it over for a few minutes and have a stronger almost opposite emotion?

There is a carpenter that lives in my building and he is sort of the handyman for the building. Downstairs by the laundry room he has a storage room where he keeps all his tools. The door is padlocked. On the wall opposite the door is a window with bars on it that looks into the alley, but nothing is covering the window in the curtain department. Last night as we were leaving the handyman told us an interesting story.

He had a job that required him to get up earlier than normal and he was leaving at 4:30am. He walked past his storage and saw the padlock missing. Went to his truck and saw the key. Went back to the storage, opened the door to see a burglar staring back at him ready to make off with thousands of dollars worth of power tools. Just inside the door was another padlock which he grabbed, shut the door and locked. The police were there within minutes to take our friendly neighborhood burglar to jail.

My first reaction was positive. Awesome quick thinking on the handyman's part, and satisfaction that justice was served and the burglar was apprehended.

Then I found out the incident was three months ago. My satisfaction was immediately diminished. Besides myself, I know there are at least three other single women living in the building. None of us were told about the incident, none of us were aware we should be a little more cautious....

Grrr

I am thinking it might be time to bid my neighborhood farewell.
