Bring Back the Soul Patch

So I am at the Daily Pint watching the game. The guy beside me finally put into words what I have been feeling for a long time. Phil Jackson needs to bring back the soul patch. It will bring the Lakers luck. Like Dan's 'stach brought the entire LA team luck in December.

I think I will call him and tell him. When the game is over.

Annual Mating

I am going to go to the Annual Meeting this year. I am looking forward to it, becuase the trip will mostly be to the mountains and have nothing to do with AM. AM is one of those things that I am terrified of, but still curious. And of course there will be people I know there that I haven't seen in a long time. It will be good. I still can't decide if I am excited or scared. The good news is that I am not apathetic.

Convention

I spent Thursday, Friday and half of Saturday at a convention, representing my company and our drug. I was glad for the change of scenery, but I am completely exhausted and not ready to go back to work tomorrow.

The hardworking ladies. I will admit right now that I was not the hardest working of the bunch.

What Little Girls Want

I was having a conversation with my Dad the other day discussing what might be a good gift for Tia for her birthday. She will be five tomorrow. I was passing along some suggestions from Katrina and then adding some of my own. I told him that if he could not find the right size of clothes to just buy her some girly ribbons or barretes for her hair. She is such a girly girl that she would be bound to love anything frilly. His response? "I'm not buying any of that junk!" I do not blame him. My dad does not get to see the grandkids very often and I know he wants anything with his name associated with it to be quality not cheap and silly. But he was never a little girl. Little girls just like that kind of stuff. For example, I still remember that when I was Tia's age, my dad bought me Strawberry shortcake barrettes from the Sonora Community Hospital gift shop. I do not think there was any occasion in particular. I loved them so much that even when the legs broke off one of them, I still wore them. And when we were evacuating due to the fire in 87, I was devastated that my mom made me leave my box of barrettes behind. Isn't that ridiculous?!

I'm not really sure what the moral of the story is. Maybe there is more than one.

Sometimes the littlest gifts are the ones most remembered.

Little girls are enamoured by pink plastic.

Life is too short... every little girl should have Strawberry Shortcake barrettes and be allowed to take them if evacuation is required.

New Favorite

I have a new favorite TV show. Yes, I still live sans a television. The Mentalist. Love it. I used to love CSI and bones because I like watching cases unraveled, but the Mentalists is so much better because there is no gross stuff. I am quite fond of Bones, but once again, so much gross stuff. With the Mentalist I can have the satisfaction of cases solved without the gross stuff. Oh, and there is also Agent Jane. I am not sure if I just want to hang out with Agent Jane because he is smart or if I want to be him. Either way, I cannot get enough of Patrick Jane. He unnerves the criminals by smiling (I learned once that in some situations if you smile too much it freaks people out. Kinda fun.) He always has his hands in his suit coat pockets. And he tricks people into giving themselves up. He makes fun of psychics. What's not to love?

Sushi

So last night I went out for sushi with Arjun and Warren. Really I went out for sushi with Arjun and Warren joined us for a little bit of social time. Warren is very opposed to sushi. Says it makes him sick. I hold the opinion that he just does not want to eat his brethren (Warren is avid surfer/swimmer). But being out with two of my UCLA boys made me happy. They talk about silly things...

Arjun: Salmon egg? (holding out a salmon egg on the end of his chopstick toward Warren.) It doesn't taste like anything. Just a little salty.
Warren: Arjun, a bear died because it didn't have enough salmon to eat, because you want to eat the eggs.
Arjun: No, sushi grade salmon is all farm raised. Too many parasites otherwise.
Warren: Then a bear was shot trying to get into the farm to get the salmon.

And on and on....they never disappoint
