An Amazing Day...

Ok, yeah, LA had an earthquake. I felt it. It was cool, whatever....

The real news of the day is that I met Randy Couture. Yes, I did have to go to a Borders Bookstore and stand in line, but I still got to meet Randy Couture and I can die happy! I really can not stop smiling.

Japanese Television

So, I have been bored at home and watching old television shows online. Of course all the shows I want to watch are posted by someone in Japan, which means that they all have Japanese subtitles. And I have noticed something really random. Many times, they explain the jokes in the subtitles. They really do. It would take to much to explain how I know this....just accept it and be amused by it. I am certainly amused....

Need a New Apartment....

So, there is a staircase right outside my front door. I use it everyday. More recently I have noticed cracks on the steps that seems to be spreading and getting worse. The first time I saw them, I had a vision of the steps falling off the building with me on them. I talked myself out of that stupid fear. I am for sure the lightest person that uses them, so why should I be worried, right?! But on Friday night I came home and they have closed the stairs. With no explanation, besides the obvious cracks on the stairs. I'm a little frustrated....I do pay rent here...they could at leat write some sort of memo to the residents. I think it is time I look for a new place to live. One that isn't falling down.

Stranded Island

So, I did a project with a coworker of mine. We both created the CD that we would take with us if we were going to be stranded on an island for the rest of our lives. And we exchanged CDs. I decided that it would be a really cool project to get as many people as I know to do this. It could be a really cool survey and of course insight into my favorite people. So far about 4 more people have promised to do it, and of course have not followed through. So I will just put it out there for who ever wants to do it. It is not an easy project. I hated the first one I made....even though it was full of songs I love. So I made a revised version. Since then I have found more songs....it is the kind of project that I feel could have a million ammendments. I would post the playlist on my blog, but I only give the playlist to someone once they give me their Stranded Island cd.

Since then, I was thinking about books I would take to my stranded island. I made a list of the 5 books I would take:
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien
The Little Prince - Antoine St. Exupery
Walden - Henry David Thoreau
The Collected Poetry of Robinson Jeffers

I was very satisfied with this list until I realized that I left out one of my favorite books..... A Prayer for Owen Meany - John Irving

I just hope I never get sent to a stranded island....

never good enough

Sometimes in life it seems that one can never be just right. A few weeks ago I had someone call me fat. That's right, someone called me fat. I laughed. How ridiculous. And then today I wore some new pants that were a size double zero petite and they were a little baggy on me. Never good enough. One day someone calls me fat, and the next my new pants are too big. Some days you just can't win.

I missed a day

I was actually on my way home last night thinking of blogging and promptly fell asleep when I got here. But don't worry, I actually woke up at 2am and realized that I had forgotten, and then couldn't go back to sleep. Now this was really not the intent of the blog....to lose sleep over....

So I am trying to get used to my new job, and I am not going to lie, I am a little frustrated. I feel like I have no idea what I am doing. But more than anything, I am soooo relieved not to be recruiting.

I am not really sure that I have done things that scared me yesterday or today, but I have done things that were a little out of my comfort zone. That counts, right? Which reminds me....someone once asked me if I ever felt that "...life was out of my comfort zone." I think I have felt that way, but not too often. Every time I think of that line, I have to stop and ponder it for a while.

I am trying to practice being more social, so I am now going to go out for coffee with my neighbor Lena even though I would much rather go to bed.

Day Two

Sometimes day two is the hardest. It's one thing to make plans, but to carry them out is another thing altogether. So today instead of laying in bed until the last possible second, I got up so I would have time to go to the dry cleaners on my way to work. Hey, it might not sound like much, but when you add up all the little things, it ends up being a big thing. And I am learning how to be nice to myself. Someone told me recently that I am nice to other people and not nice to myself. Since then I have tried to learn how to be nice to myself. It is not as easy as it sounds. Last night I took out the trash without even asking myself to do it. And then just to be really nice to myself, I did the dishes.....how nice is that?! Yeah, I thought that was very thoughtful too! I did all my laundry yesterday and then to thank myself, I went shopping.

And now I am sleepy.....laila tov.....
