I was having a conversation with my Dad the other day discussing what might be a good gift for Tia for her birthday. She will be five tomorrow. I was passing along some suggestions from Katrina and then adding some of my own. I told him that if he could not find the right size of clothes to just buy her some girly ribbons or barretes for her hair. She is such a girly girl that she would be bound to love anything frilly. His response? "I'm not buying any of that junk!" I do not blame him. My dad does not get to see the grandkids very often and I know he wants anything with his name associated with it to be quality not cheap and silly. But he was never a little girl. Little girls just like that kind of stuff. For example, I still remember that when I was Tia's age, my dad bought me Strawberry shortcake barrettes from the Sonora Community Hospital gift shop. I do not think there was any occasion in particular. I loved them so much that even when the legs broke off one of them, I still wore them. And when we were evacuating due to the fire in 87, I was devastated that my mom made me leave my box of barrettes behind. Isn't that ridiculous?!
I'm not really sure what the moral of the story is. Maybe there is more than one.
Sometimes the littlest gifts are the ones most remembered.
Little girls are enamoured by pink plastic.
Life is too short... every little girl should have Strawberry Shortcake barrettes and be allowed to take them if evacuation is required.

So what did you decide for little miss Tia??
Jenica has tons of Polly Pockets because Michaelyn always wanted them growing up, but they were to expensive... I don't think Jenica appreciates them as much as Michaelyn does though.
