Seattle....

Last weekend I took a quick little trip to the great Northwest to surprise the heck out of my Dad in honor of his 59th birthday. His friends John and Kathleen planned a surprise birthday dinner. They told him that to reserve the evening because they had "special tickets." They invited me up about a month ago, and after some deliberation (I was worried that my Dad might not be so excited about a surprise and I did not want to give him a heart attack for a birthday present) I accepted the invitation. I took a flight up on Saturday morning. When I got off the plane, I got a voicemail from my Dad, that literally started with, "Brook, I don't want your voicemail, I want the real Brook in person...." Oh, sir, be careful what you wish for...

John and Kathleen paid a car to pick me up at the airport and drop me off at the ferry..... and I rode it to Kingston, where John picked me up and took me to their house.

This is the whole party waiting in the hallway for Dad to arrive and scare the hell out of him.

The evening was quite fun and the next day we did little Port Townsend kind of things....like check out his cool little property, have coffee with the locals...

And then I got to see one of his favorite little joints in Stellicoom right before he dropped me off at the airport. Very short, very sweet, and very memorable....and I promise Dad, if I ever surprise you again I will make sure to ruin the surprise ahead of time! xoxo
