Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

So this year, listening to the Christmas music, I found myself very annoyed with one song in particular. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer just does not make sense. Let me explain.

You know Dasher and Dancer
And Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?
Umm, yeah. Why is he asking if I remember the most famous one?
Yeah. I do remember Rudolph. In fact if you asked me to name only one reindeer,
it would be Rudolph. There is no way I cold even name all the others.

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Play in any reindeer games

Ok, so the songwriter just took what he knew from human nature and applied it to reindeer.
Humans will bully and ostracize anyone not like themselves. Ok, I get it.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then all the reindeer loved him
And they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
You'll go down in history!"

Ok, so if we are assuming that the songwriter was using what he knew of human nature
to write the song, this is where it breaks down. When the person that is usually picked on
is singled out for an honor I'm pretty sure all the others would not immediately LOVE
them or even be slightly happy. Much less yell out with glee that they
will be remembered in history.

Ridiculous
