Fly in Cotze?

This morning I made myself some coffee and just as I was ready to put some cream in, I noticed a gnat commit suicide by diving straight in. Suddenly I was transported to Indiana on a summer morning in 2001.

The summer of 2001 I spent six weeks in Indiana and many of those days I was babysitting Elle. I remember her saying the cutest things. Often she would come up to me and say "Adoing, Brookie?" I kind of adopted that line. It is such a great contraction. Who has the time to say "What are you doing?" As it turns out, not everyone sees the benefit of this time and breath saver. Every time I said, "Adoing, Miiish?" to Miiish, he would reply with "Why are you saying that? You aren't two years old." Ok, fair enough. It is cute on a two year old not a twentyfive year old. But back to 2001. Every morning I had coffee. But one particular morning a fly flew straight into my coffee causing me to make some sort of wild exclamation (don't worry shark, I am sure I didn't use any bad words that Elle would have picked up.) Of course I had to explain to Elle that I was exclaiming because a fly had flown straight into my coffee. Every day after that she would climb up into my lap, peer into my coffee cup and ask "Fly in cotze?" It always made me laugh as I told her that there was no fly in my cotze today.

Well, Elle, today there WAS a fly in my cotze. And it made me think of you and miss you.

Just one more reason you shouldn't drink coffee in my book, but that's me.
