Best Birthday Weekend Ever (Part II)

On Saturday before my birthday, we celebrated by going to Santa Ynez and tasting wine all day. It was absolutely the most beautiful day. If I had not already fallen in love with California, it would have happened then. We started the day with mimosas thanks to Jeannette and crepes thanks to Conrad. And then we were off like a herd of turtles. We had to go back to the house only about 4 times before we were actually off! First real stop was Neptune's Net. Needed a drink by then, of course.

Next stop Jeannette's favorite midnight destination. Perfect photo opportunity to incite homesickness in Uncle Toby. It was accidental....

The first winery was a disappointment....only doing group tastings. Not going back there! Second winery was Firestone, we went to salute our Monday night ritual. Unfortunately the Firestone family no longer owns the winery so we probably will not be going there again! If you go to Firestone, try not to throw the wine glasses around, unless they are plastic and you want to give people heart attacks. Third stop was Zaca Mesa....the most fun so far. Starting with fans in the parking lot honking and wanting to join in our festivities. And then we got carded....

Then several more wineries that start to blend together...not sure why....I only had a few sips til now... And then we made it to Los Olivos Cafe where we were told to quiet down after the second cheer because we were "upsetting the kitchen staff!" How much better can it get?!

And dinner was fantastic. The drive home was long, but Conrad made it short. I walked in and promptly fell asleep on my bed. Such a perfect day with spectacular people!
