We met up with our friends Frances and Brandon, who had already signed in and been numbered.

The coolest thing about Hannukah and many Jewish holidays is that they are geared towards kids. And they make a point to include the kids. We are definitely spinners in training, but we are not quite under 5....

Then Conrad talked Frances into buying him a sufganiot. I guess it would be a sufgania....he did only eat one....

We practiced our spinning. In order to break the record, the dreidel must be spinning for at least 10 seconds. So much harder than it sounds. We needed to practice.
Frances and her purple dreidel.

So we did the spin when the rabbi counted down. When he called the end of 10 seconds, none of our dreidels were left spinning. But we had fun and were even interviewed by the Jewish Journal.

In the end we did not end up breaking the record, but we had a good time. I hear the next attempt will be in two years. We will not be beginner spinners then....there might be a chance...
