Claddagh

So a long time ago I was sitting beside the neighbor that lived half way down my lane and I noticed her wedding ring. It was something I had never seen before and it interested me. I commented on it and she explained it to me. It was an Irish ring, the heart in the center symbolized love, the hands on either side symbolized friendship and the crown on the top symbolized loyalty. I really liked the entire idea, and I always wanted one. But I never told anyone.

About a year ago, my boyfriend at the time decided to visit Ireland and he brought back a Claddagh ring necklace for me. I was very happy for many reasons. The first one being that I had always wanted one, but had never told anyone. Second reason was that it was the first gift he ever gave me and the third reason was that he was smart enough to get me the silver necklace instead of the gold. I thought he never noticed the little things but he had noticed that I never wear gold if I can help it. I wore the necklace every day and every night.

I have since quit wearing the necklace for obvious reasons.....but I missed the Claddagh. So I bought myself one. Why wait on a guy to buy you a ring? I can take care of myself!

And then I found this one.....I am not into diamonds....never have been, but I have decided that this is the wedding ring I want if or when I ever get married. I feel like making fun of myself right now because I used to make fun of....oh, who am I kidding! I STILL make fun of girls who pick out their wedding rings when they are single!

I have ALWAYS loved these rings too! My friend, Maryhelen has one...but since she moved deeper into the midwest, I missed it. And her too! So, in June when I was at Norte Dame, I bought myself a Claddagh pin. Because I love it, and because I miss Maryhelen.
side note, I LOVE diamonds. And this ring!!
