Astrology

I do not care one bit about astrology. I do not think it means anything or can tell me anything about my life and how to live it or who I am compatible with. However, more recently I have had several people ask me my sign shortly after they meet me. Their reaction is usually one of two, either..."Hmmmm, so you are an Aquarius...ok, that is interesting."....or, "An Aquarius, not exactly what I assumed." I'm not really sure there could be any other reactions. It is all just so silly to me. But since several people had asked lately, I decided to look up a description of my sign. I will not bore you with the whole description (and by the way, this is the first and only description I looked up, I guess if I was serious I would have looked up several) but I will insert pieces that interested, entertained and scared me....

Those born under the sign of Aquarius not only march to a different drummer, they make up new music as they go along. They are ''mind oriented'' individuals, whose thoughts never stop tick-tocking over.

Not really sure that I make up my own music, but we all know that I did not necessarily march to the same drummer as everyone I grew up with. And I am not sure what the tick-tocking line actually means, but if it means that stay up at night thinking about random things like dying in space, I guess it is right....

Because of their high focus on intellectual exploration, many inventors, eccentrics and highly original trailblazers are born under this sign. Their intense ability to live on many mental levels, holds both pain and pleasure for Aquarians. For example, in the American Hall of Fame there are more Aquarians than any other sign, yet statistics reveal that in mental institutions there are more Aquarians than any other sign too.

Yeah, ok, I guess I hope that I fall into the former category instead of the latter...

But in everyday terms, most Aquarians are extremely humanitarian and often involved in social programs that assist others. They can also be objective in judgement, for they never let their emotions get in the way.

Thinking of my recent decision that sales just is not very fulfilling for me, hence the decision to start volunteering at Cedars-Sinai, I would agree. But not letting my emotions get in the way? I can not say that one is true...

Aquarians usually have strong political, environmental or social beliefs. But whether it is a relationship, career or cause - Aquarians are happiest when they have "something" to believe in and nurture.

I can find nothing to argue with on this last little piece. I have said for a long time now that I am happiest when I am taking care of other people...

Lastly I found the following underneath the chart of all the signs and the dates that correspond with them.

NOTE: The above dates are a guideline only. Because of leap years, time zone differences and other factors, the exact day and time when the Sun changes signs varies from year to year. If you are born close to the changeover dates (close to the cusp) of the signs, you need to have your own personal horoscope drawn up in order to know exactly which sign you were born under.

How serious does that sound? Thank God I was not born on the cusp of a sign, otherwise I would have to take off work tomorrow and go get my own personal horoscope drawn up, so I would know who I am.

After all of this, I do not think I have changed my mind on the whole idea of astrological signs. They are just like fortunes or horoscopes. They work best when you read them before the day begins so you can make it happen or come true. But they can be entertaining, and I would never begrudge someone a little bit of harmless entertainment.

How funny-the new receptionist is completely into astrological signs. On Saturday she forgot to look until about 3pm. I had her look up mine too so that I could find out if I had a good day or not. I was so worried.
